BECi Directors Elected at Annual Meeting
DeRidder—The results of the Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BECi) director elections were announced Saturday during the BECi Annual Meeting at co-op headquarters in DeRidder.
Ray Hauser, District Six Incumbent Director, was re-elected without opposition. Hauser, a resident of DeRidder, has served on the BECi Board since 1986 and is a NRECA Credentialed Cooperative Director. Mr. Hauser is a farmer and nurseryman and is the general manager of Beauregard Parish Waterworks, District 3. He attended McNeese State University and is a member of First United Methodist Church, Beauregard Parish Farm Bureau Board, and is vice-president of the Beauregard Parish Fair Association.
Incumbent director, Teddy Welch, was re-elected without opposition to represent District Five for an eighth term. Teddy Welch, a resident of Sugartown, has served on the BECi Board in District Five since 1989 and is a NRECA Credential Cooperative Director. Mr. Welch is a retired teacher and principal from the Beauregard Parish School system. He attended McNeese State University, Louisiana State University, Northwestern State University and holds a bachelor degree and master degree +30 in education and a certification in vocational agriculture. Mr. Welch is a member of Sugartown Baptist Church, the Beauregard Parish Police Jury Association and the Beauregard and Louisiana Parish Cattleman's Association.
District Eight incumbent director, Terry Backhaus, CFP, was elected to represent District Eight for a third term. Backhaus, receiving 473 votes, defeated fellow candidate Charlie Johnson, who received 349 votes. Terry Backhaus, CFP, a resident of Sulphur, has served on the BECi Board in District Eight for six years and is a NRECA Credentialed Cooperative Director. Mr. Backhaus is a financial advisor with his firm, Backhaus Financial Group LLC. Mr. Backhaus holds a bachelor degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a master degree in chemical engineering from McNeese State University. Mr. Backhaus serves as the board assistant secretary/treasurer and board chairman of the audit committee. Mr. Backhaus is a member of Henning Methodist Church, Sulphur Rotary Club, Chamber Southwest, and West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital Foundation Board.
The three directors officially began serving a three-year term at Saturday's annual meeting.
