DeRidder—Each year Beauregard
Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BECi) randomly selects students within its service
area to receive a scholarship to attend a Louisiana University. These funds were made possible through
legislative changes in 1993 to allow unclaimed funding to stay in local
communities assisting families to further their education.
Since its inception, BECi has
awarded 92 students totaling more than $138,000. The results of the scholarship drawing were
announced Saturday during the BECi Annual Meeting at co-op headquarters in
DeRidder.
The following students were chosen
for the 2010-2011 academic school-year:
Kara Borland, a 2010 graduate of Oberlin High School
Autumn Brown, a 2010 graduate of South Beauregard
High School
Ashley Fejarang, a 2009 graduate of

Kaleb Harper, a 2010 graduate of East Beauregard
High School
