BECi is one of the nine of Louisiana's eleven electric cooperatives that participates in the  Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. To enter the essay contest, students must write a formal letter as if they were writing to an elected official or group. The top four winners are selected to attend the Youth Tour. in Washington D.C.. Nationwide, electric co-ops from 45 states participate in this event more than 1,500 young people from across the nation gather in Washington D.C.  each year.
