We Continue to Work For You During the COVID-19 Crisis

In response to Governor John Bel Edwards’ “Stay At Home” order and public health expert’s recommendations to increase social distancing measures, we have made changes to our standard way of operating. Our offices’ lobby and drive-thru are now closed until further notice. Our customer service representatives and linemen are still available and are eager to help you during this time. The following are some important things we want our members to keep in mind:

-We are still here. Our goal continues as we keep the lights on and provide reliable power and customer service to all of our members – especially during these extraordinary times.

-Customer service representatives are here to assist you with billing, establishing power, addressing account issues and reporting outages. Even though we will miss seeing our members face-to-face during this time, we are still available by phone at 1-800-367-0275.

-Our linemen are still working. Our dedicated line crews are still working to restore any outages and answer service calls.

-Our dispatch workers continue to work around the clock. As usual, dispatch crews continue to monitor outages and dispatch linemen.

-Although we are taking precautions in the interest of our employees and the public, we still intend to do our very best to do our part in keeping normalcy during this abnormal time, most importantly by keeping your lights on.

Members can continue to pay their bill by mail, drop box, online and through the MyBECi App. In addition to these options, members may also pay their bill by phone or sign up for bank draft or auto pay. Members who are establishing power with BECi can continue to do so using our online application.

With families spending more time at home, we encourage members to monitor their energy usage and payments in order to avoid increased energy usage costs at the conclusion of this public health event.

In response to many of our members experiencing financial burden at the beginning of the COVID-19 event, BECi and other electric temporarily suspended disconnecting members for non-payment. This means that members could wait, at least 30-days from March 16, to pay their bill. As the clock ticks down on that 30-day extension period, we want to encourage members to continue to pay their electric bill. Most people will continue to use the same amount of kilowatts as usual, perhaps more in cases where more people are spending more time in their home. We encourage members to continue to pay their bill to avoid 2 months of kilowatt usage coming due at one time. If the 30-day period is extended or discounted, it will be publicized.

We will continue to do our part and we encourage you to do so as well, by practicing social distancing, hand-washing and being a good neighbor. We will get through this together.
